Boji Boji Urban (Ward 7) defeated Abavo (Ward 11) 6-5 on penalties in the final of the Ifeanyi Okowa Football Tournament to cart home the cash prize of N1m and a giant trophy at the Agbor Stadium on December 30.
Regulation time ended goalless in the explosive match before Abavo lost the ensuing penalty shootout to finish as runners-up with a cash prize of N500,000.
Umunede (Ika North Ward 11) defeated Ward 6 (Ofien/Owaekie/Alizomor) in the third-place match to go home with N300,000.
Head of the organising committee for the event, Lucky Sunday, said, ?It was great to have our governor, his wife and family members attend the final as well as Nduka Irabor and his wife. ?This attendance endorses and appends seriousness to community and grassroots sports. Also at the event were former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Martins Okonta; Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Tony Okowa; Ika South representative in the DTHA, Chukky Dandy; and former Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Fred Edoreh.
