Plans N20bn Agric Projects for Gombe

In a move to develop agriculture for food sustainability and security across the country, the Federal Government has completed plans to commence the N20 billion agro-based projects in Gombe state before the end of this year.
This was made public by Gombe state governor,Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Goje, while receiving traditional rulers from across the state led by the Mai Kaltungo, Alhaji Saleh Muhammad Umar, who paid him a special courtesy visit at the Government House,Gombe. The governor also said the projects to be executed by the Federal Government in the state include Vegetable Export Processing Centre, a vegetable processing mill in Kumo and the construction of an ultra modern abattoir as well as a modern grains market and an irrigation project at Dadin-Kowa Dam where farmers in the state will be selected to embark on modern farming to ensure accelerated food production.
He explained that already, the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Dr. Abba Sayyadi Rumah, had assured him that all contracts for the execution of these projects would be awarded before the end of the year, while some had already been awarded and contractors would soon move to the site.
Goje, who expressed profound gratitude to President Umaru Musa Yar?Adua and the Minister of Agriculture for approving the projects for Gombe state, noted that the projects would certainly assist in improving the socio-economic development of the people.
