As carol rightly said to power your house is a function of the entire house load(overall house installed wattage) in a lay man terms-the power ratings of all the house appliances and lighting points, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, lighting point(fluorescent tubes,bulbs) etc.  have to be summed up to ascertain the totality of power consumption needed for your house. But advice we give is this, start little and gradually upgrade if there is shortage of take off funds that way you do not stress yourself financially.

More importantly, I am interested in knowing where to get solar components like:
panels, regulators, inverters, deep cycled batteries and cables for installation.
Sir, pls help me out with this and let me know if it is possible to power Aircondition with Solar
energy.  Pure Sine Wave inverters to be specific.

To answer solo, your request on cost of 400watt solar panel if that is what you meant.   As I speak to you there are no 400watt panel in this part of the world unless you want to specially import.   You can get 200watt solar panel(N170,000 as of last week, price fluctuates). 
NB.   To deploy solar power to homes, you need solar panels, inverter, deep cycle or shallow cycle batteries,
charge controller and cables.   The capacities of all these can be decided after  SIZING(appropriate house load calculation).   


To answer Ismail; Air conditioner of course can be energized by pure sine wave inverter, except that this inverter type is more expensive than modified sine wave inverter(economical).   A true or pure sine wave inverter can power anything like laser jet printers, fax machine, cordless tool chargers etc.  A modified sine wave type may present certain compromises by giving humming sounds with some loads. 


Post Merge: June 27, 2009, 01:00:30 AMCarol, the type of solar cell required for us here is mono-crystal not poly-crystal, all other components are very compact able for this part of the country.  The power box,inverter, charge controller are all fine  except the  solar  cell made from poly.

Carol it is quite okay by me to cooperate with you to promote solar power in Africa.
If your prices are quite cheap and your products are of better quality why not.  Note the price I gave is the seller product, I do not sell solar panel. But if your source is cheaper we can get together.
