I often think of an idea that is popularly known as anal retention. It is when one is so padi'd, to use a word coined from a Yoruba expression, that they refuse to sow their seeds. I guess it is why the Master said one show sow one's seeds, regardless. Another way of looking at it is the stated fact that "eni ti o ba da omi si iwaju, a te ile tutu".
Sarah, if you have seeds to sow, I advise that you sow them. Write to the companies that you have thought up ideas for and ask them i they are interested. If they are not, you got nothing to use. If they use your idea, you can always send them a bill for your idea that they have used. There is of course no guarantee that they will pay, but you can always write about how they stole your idea and refused to acknowledge that they did. The benefit is that you will be known for one who has great ideas that companies will rather steal from you and use, and refuse to pay for at that! Others will come running if it were an idea that worked, note.
And good luck.
