1,500 Oyo pilgrims ready for hajj

The Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheik Luqman Busari, has said that arrangements have been concluded for a hitch-free hajj for the state contingent to the holy land.
Busari, who spoke with journalists in his office on Tuesday, said 1,510 pilgrims would participate in the exercise from the state this year.
He said the board had made preparations for the pilgrims? movement in Nigeria and in Saudi Arabia.
Busari also explained that adequate accommodation near the two sanctuaries in Saudi Arabia had been secured for the pilgrims, adding that board had also paid 60 per cent upfront for the accommodation.
He said, ?We expect that our pilgrims will be airlifted as from November 15 if all arrangements with the Federal Government work out. We have perfected our travelling documents.
?All the intending Alhajis and Alhajas have also undergone their medical tests while university dons and local clerics have been invited to lecture them on the exercise and what is expected of them in the holy land.?
Busari added that the state governor was expected to address the pilgrims on Wednesday in preparations for their transportation as from this weekend.
