ITF: DG urges better funding
The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund, Prof. Longmas Wapmuk, has urged the Federal Government to increase funds meant for the scheme to make it achieve the desired results.
Wapmuk, who was represented by the Manager of Benin Area Office of the ITF, Alhaji Babatunde Asaju, said this in Akure on Monday during a two-day management training for coordinators of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme in tertiary institutions in Edo and Delta states.
In order to make students benefit from the scheme, Wapmuk, advised coordinators of the programmes in tertiary institutions to corporate with the government.
He also encouraged the students to intensify their efforts to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
He said that the programme was part of what students were supposed to know during the duration of their programmes.
Wapmuk said that the scheme ought to be better funded in order to improve the quality of graduates of the nation?s higher institutions.
According to him, ?Human resources development for efficient business operations cannot be overemphasised as the fund is promoting and encouraging training in industry and commerce with a view to improving the nation?s growth.?
He stated that the fund was ready to contribute to the success of the achievement of President Umaru Yar?Adua?s seven-point agenda.
