ABU POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION ? ENTRY REQUIRMENTS.

An applicant for Postgraduate studies must have met the
normal undergraduate requirements of at least five
relevant O? level credits or a combination of relevant O?
level credits and A ?level qualifications (in a maximum of 2
sittings) such as IJMB, HND, HSC, NCE, etc. In all cases these
must include a credit in O? level English Language and
Mathematics (where required).
A holder of HND (minimum of an Upper Credit) or
equivalent is ordinarily not qualified for Masters Admission
except where he/she has acquired an additional
qualification such as a PGD in the same or related field
whereby he/she may be admitted.
Applicants with 3rd class Degrees can, in some cases, be
admitted, provided they possess additional relevant
qualifications such as a PGD and/or post-graduation work
experience (at least 5 years) acceptable to the University.

Holders of Pass Degree or HND (lower than an Upper
Credit) are not eligible for postgraduate studies in ABU.
PhD applicants must hold a Master degree with a research
thesis component (not project). Candidates with a CGPA
score of less than 3.5 are not eligible for PhD admission.
Where a PhD applicant is judged to be deficient, has a
professional Master?s degree or Masters without a Thesis
component, he/she maybe considered for an M.Phil.

Applicants who earn a minimum CGPA of a 3.5 at the end of
the M.Phil. programme shall be upgraded to proceed with
the relevant PhD study.

Applicants for PhD programmes are expected to liaise with
the relevant departments/programmes prior to selection of
their proposed research areas to ascertain the
department?s capability to host their proposed study.
Where a Master or PhD student is unable to complete his/
her study within the stipulated time, such a student shall be
awarded the relevant PGD or M.Phil. respectively (where
applicable).

HOW TO APPLY FOR ABU POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Interested and qualified candidates are required to go to
http://forms.abu.edu.ng/pgform/ to create an account to obtain a unique Transaction ID which you will use to pay
for your application form.

All PG application forms cost =N=10,000.00 (Ten Thousand
Naira) only. However, the banks will also charge a token
administrative fee in addition to the cost of application
forms.


ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR SOME POSTGRADUATE

2. Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD)

Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited is offering scholarships to Second year Nigerian students in all Nigerian universities.

This scholarship program will be awarded to successful students for full duration of their courses.

The Scholarship is in two categories;

i) The National Merit Award (NM): Is open to all Nigerians.

ii) The Areas of Operation Merit Award (OM): Is for Nigerians who are indigenes of Shell operational areas in Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers

Eligibility

? Applicants must be Nigerian students.

? Applicants must be a second year student enrolled in an accredited course at a NUC approved Nigerian university.

? Applicants must have a minimum of seven O/Levels credits, including Mathematics and English.

? Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 at the time of application.

Application Process

? All applicants should have their personal valid email accounts (for consistent communication).

? Applicants who meet the above entry qualifications should apply online at www.shellnigeria.com and provide the required personal and educational details, and load scanned copies of the following:

i) A recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant (i.e. jpeg format, not more than 200 kilobytes).

ii) University or JAMB (UTME or D/E) Admission Letter;
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Scores.

iii) ?O? Level Result(s); and ?A? Level /OND /NCE Result(s) as applicable.

iv) Letter of Identification from State (showing Local Government) of Origin.

? Applicants for the Operational Area Awards must upload Scanned copies of letters of identification, (which must be duly stamped and signed) by:

i) The Paramount Ruler of the Community; and

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

2.1 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programmes:

2. 1.1. Graduates from approved Universities who hold first degree classification with FCGPA of 2.39 and above on a 5point scale.

2.1.2. Candidates from approved Polytechnics or Monotechnics who hold a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit.

2.2. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into Masters Programmes:
Graduates from approved Universities who hold the appropriate degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for Universities that do not use FCGPA.
Holders of Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.50 and above (on a 5 point scale).

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES
Graduates from approved universities who hold Masters degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities that do not use the FCGPA

MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for any Postgraduate programme must possess a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and any four relevant subjects at one or two sittings from WAEC, NECO,NABTEB or TCII(Faculty of Education only) based on the Departmental/Faculty and General University Requirements.
Applicants are advised to obtain information on Departmental requirements and areas of specialization from the university website www.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES

4.1 Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PGD)
Full-Time Postgraduate Diploma programme lasts for a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of three (3) semesters. Part- Time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of Six (6) semesters
Note: For the Faculty of Engineering Professional PGD: Full-Time lasts for a minimum of 4 Semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters. Part-Time shall last for a minimum of 6 Semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters

4.2 Master Degree Programmes
Full-Time Masters Degree programmes lasts for a minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters. Part-time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of Eight (cool semesters

4.3 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme
Full-Time Ph.D. programmes lasts for a minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters. Part-Time programme shall last for a minimum of eight (cool semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters

METHOD OF APPLICATION

5.2 Fill and submit online the completed Application Form, scanning and attaching the claimed certificates, including O?level certificates.

5.3 Print the completed Application Form for your personal use. You will require this document in the course of the admission and registration.

5.4 Download and print a copy of the Transcript Request Form. The Transcript Request Form should be sent to your former Institution for your academic transcripts. Any change of name should be indicated in the transcript form.

5.5 Applicants should include the names and e-mail addresses of three Referees. At least two of the referees must be Academics not lower than the rank of Senior Lecturer.


Transcripts should be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies

5.7 Ph.D. applicants are expected to submit online a proposal of not more than five type-written pages that should include:
a. Topic (not more than 18 words)
b. Brief background of the Study
c. Aim and Objectives/Purpose
d. Methodology
e. Expected Outcomes
f. References .
5.8 Qualified Applicants will be invited for Screening Test and Proposal Defence (PhD only) The schedule will be communicated in due course

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

2.1 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programmes:

2. 1.1. Graduates from approved Universities who hold first degree classification with FCGPA of 2.39 and above on a 5point scale.

2.1.2. Candidates from approved Polytechnics or Monotechnics who hold a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit.

2.2. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into Masters Programmes:
Graduates from approved Universities who hold the appropriate degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for Universities that do not use FCGPA.
Holders of Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.50 and above (on a 5 point scale).

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES
Graduates from approved universities who hold Masters degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities that do not use the FCGPA

MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for any Postgraduate programme must possess a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and any four relevant subjects at one or two sittings from WAEC, NECO,NABTEB or TCII(Faculty of Education only) based on the Departmental/Faculty and General University Requirements.
Applicants are advised to obtain information on Departmental requirements and areas of specialization from the university website www.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES

4.1 Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PGD)
Full-Time Postgraduate Diploma programme lasts for a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of three (3) semesters. Part- Time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of Six (6) semesters
Note: For the Faculty of Engineering Professional PGD: Full-Time lasts for a minimum of 4 Semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters. Part-Time shall last for a minimum of 6 Semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters

4.2 Master Degree Programmes
Full-Time Masters Degree programmes lasts for a minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters. Part-time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of Eight (cool semesters

4.3 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme
Full-Time Ph.D. programmes lasts for a minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters. Part-Time programme shall last for a minimum of eight (cool semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters

METHOD OF APPLICATION

5.2 Fill and submit online the completed Application Form, scanning and attaching the claimed certificates, including O?level certificates.

5.3 Print the completed Application Form for your personal use. You will require this document in the course of the admission and registration.

5.4 Download and print a copy of the Transcript Request Form. The Transcript Request Form should be sent to your former Institution for your academic transcripts. Any change of name should be indicated in the transcript form.

5.5 Applicants should include the names and e-mail addresses of three Referees. At least two of the referees must be Academics not lower than the rank of Senior Lecturer.


Transcripts should be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies

5.7 Ph.D. applicants are expected to submit online a proposal of not more than five type-written pages that should include:
a. Topic (not more than 18 words)
b. Brief background of the Study
c. Aim and Objectives/Purpose
d. Methodology
e. Expected Outcomes
f. References .
5.8 Qualified Applicants will be invited for Screening Test and Proposal Defence (PhD only) The schedule will be communicated in due course
