Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate Programmes in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt for the 2015/201 6 academic session.

2. DURATION Of PROGRAMMES
2.1 The full-time Postgraduate Diploma programmes run for a duration of two semesters (minimum) and four semesters(maximum) with or without project writing.
2.2 The full-time Postgraduate Diploma programme in Engineering runs for a duration of three semesters (minimum) and six semesters (maximum) with project writing.
2.3 The full-time Master?s Degree Programme with dissertation is structured to last for a minimum of two Semesters and a maximum off our semesters.
2.4 The full-time Master?s Degree Programme with dissertation in Faculty of Engineering is structured to last for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
2.5 The full?time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme with Thesis runs for six semesters (minimum) and eight semesters (maximum).
2.6 Part-time studies usually take twice the duration allowed for full-time programmes. However, the part-time PhD programmes last forten semesters (minimum) and twelve semesters (maximum).
Admission REQUIREMENT
Applicants with the qualifications in the underlisted categories shall be eligible for admission into the postgraduate programmes;however, candidates must fulfill the matriculation requirements of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, PortHarcourt.
a. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA) Holders of a Third Class Degree in the subject area applied for or a Second Class (Lower Division) degree in a related discipline obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized Institution or equivalent status,
ii) Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least lower credit classification or its equivalent in a related discipline, obtained from a recognized Institution.
b.MASTER?S Degree PROGRAMMESi)
A candidate seeking admission into the Full-time/Part-time Master?s degree programme must possess a Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Division in the relevant discipline.
ii) A candidate who holds PGD, PGDE or PGDTE with CGPA of 3.50 or above in the relevant discipline may apply for the Master?s Programme.
iii) Candidates for the M.Ed. degree programmes offered in the Faculty of Technical and science medication should possess either a good Bachelor?s degree (not lower than Second Class Division) in a relevant teaching subject OR Higher National Diploma or its equivalent with at least lower credit classification in addition to PGDE or PGDTE with a CGPA of 3.50 obtained from this University or any other recognized institution.
(c)PhD PROGRAMMES(i) A candidate for a PhD programme shall possess a Master?s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in a relevant discipline obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent status
(ii) present himself or herself for a qualifying interview, if need be.(d) A candidate for a PhD programme in the Faculty of Management Sciences must possess a Master?s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above in the relevant discipline.
Holders of Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degrees can only be considered for admission into the relevant Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes.No person shall be admitted to a programme unless his/her application hasbeen approved by the Postgraduate School Board on behalf of Senate and on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Committee.
Every applicant shall submit with his/her application the following said Copies of certificates and certified academic transcripts.(ii) Letter of reference from previous academic institution, stating in support of(i) that applicant is qualified to undertake advanced studies and research and that he (the Referee) is confident that the applicant will benefit from undertaking the programme.
Note: In addition to the conditions above, a candidate may be required to present himself/herself for a selection test and/or oral interview.
Method Of Application
Applications for admission to any Postgraduate programme shall be made on line by logging onto www.ust.edu.ng and e-payment of twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000.00) only, using interswitch verve enabled cards. Application forms should be completed on-line, downloaded and hard copies submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School along with photocopies of certificates.
For PhD applicants, brief research proposals on their intended areas of study should also accompany the application forms.
It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that copies of their academic transcripts are forwarded under cover directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

ABU POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION ? ENTRY REQUIRMENTS.
An applicant for Postgraduate studies must have met the
normal undergraduate requirements of at least five
relevant O? level credits or a combination of relevant O?
level credits and A ?level qualifications (in a maximum of 2
sittings) such as IJMB, HND, HSC, NCE, etc. In all cases these
must include a credit in O? level English Language and
Mathematics (where required).
A holder of HND (minimum of an Upper Credit) or
equivalent is ordinarily not qualified for Masters Admission
except where he/she has acquired an additional
qualification such as a PGD in the same or related field
whereby he/she may be admitted.
Applicants with 3rd class Degrees can, in some cases, be
admitted, provided they possess additional relevant
qualifications such as a PGD and/or post-graduation work
experience (at least 5 years) acceptable to the University.
Holders of Pass Degree or HND (lower than an Upper
Credit) are not eligible for postgraduate studies in ABU.
PhD applicants must hold a Master degree with a research
thesis component (not project). Candidates with a CGPA
score of less than 3.5 are not eligible for PhD admission.
Where a PhD applicant is judged to be deficient, has a
professional Master?s degree or Masters without a Thesis
component, he/she maybe considered for an M.Phil.
Applicants who earn a minimum CGPA of a 3.5 at the end of
the M.Phil. programme shall be upgraded to proceed with
the relevant PhD study.
Applicants for PhD programmes are expected to liaise with
the relevant departments/programmes prior to selection of
their proposed research areas to ascertain the
department?s capability to host their proposed study.
Where a Master or PhD student is unable to complete his/
her study within the stipulated time, such a student shall be
awarded the relevant PGD or M.Phil. respectively (where
applicable).
HOW TO APPLY FOR ABU POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
Interested and qualified candidates are required to go to
http://forms.abu.edu.ng/pgform/ to create an account to obtain a unique Transaction ID which you will use to pay
for your application form.
All PG application forms cost =N=10,000.00 (Ten Thousand
Naira) only. However, the banks will also charge a token
administrative fee in addition to the cost of application
forms.
