Background

UNIFEM is the women’s fund at the United Nations. It is established in 1976, it provides financial and technical assistance to innovative approaches aimed at fostering women’s empowerment and gender equality. Today the organization’s work touches the lives of women and girls in more than 100 countries. UNIFEM serves as a catalyst to ensure mainstreaming women rights in policy and programs levels, as well as it plays an innovative and a catalytic role in the UN system making the voices of women heard at the United Nations — to highlight critical issues and advocate for the implementation of existing commitments made to women.
In line with fulfilling UNIFEM’s strategic objectives, UNIFEM Arab States’ program focuses on three main areas strengthening women’s political participation, ending violence against women and ensuring women’s economic security and rights in the region.

Responsibilities

- Provide Administrative support to the Jordan Program include issuing of contracts, recording of expenses, preparation of payment request, travel authorization, F10 Claims etc.
- Ensure that all the documents needed for issuing contracts and payments are completed and available on file.
- Maintain the Jordan Program filing and ensure its adherence to UNIFEM regulations.
- Participate in workshops and activities related to the program as requested.
- Assist in project formulation and reporting.
- Assist in liaising and following up with women’s organizations, government agencies, donors and local NGOs as per the related projects.
- Establish and maintain the database on local partners and other relevant material.
- Provide secretarial and logistical support to Jordan program.
- Updating the uploading of current events on UNIFEM website.
- Attend different meetings and draft minutes of meeting as per supervisor request.
- Review recent reports on Jordanian women and other related issues released from different UN agencies and other partners.
- Reporting to the management on the projects and offering advice when necessary.
- Keeping up to date with the latest advancement in the field of information.
- Organizing regular project-site visits in order to monitor and evaluate flow of activities on the ground.
- Performing others duties requested by supervisors as need arises.

Required Skills and Experience

- A degree in Social Sciences or Management Information System or any other related fields.
- Minimum One year of experience in administrative and project management work.
- Excellent Communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong sense of initiative and coordination.
- Excellent writing and typing skills in both Arabic and English.
