The Imota Local Council Development Area has honoured a Senior Secondary School female student of the Lagos State Model College, Miss Rachael Balogun, for emerging winner of the Spelling Bee competition organised by the council.

A statement made available to our correspondent on Thursday said as part of the reward, the student was given the honour of being the executive secretary of the council for one day.

During the ceremony, the one day executive secretary was received by the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, in his palace. The oba, who was elated over the visit, prayed for the student, whom he said was the first person to come from Imota since the competition was introduced.

The Executive Secretary of the council, Alhaja Olabisi Odewale, who accompanied the student to the oba?s palace, thanked the oba for the fatherly role he had been playing since her assumption of office as the council boss. She advised the one day executive secretary to aspire to the top in her academics.

Apart from being conferred with the executive secretary honour for one day, Balogun also went home with an annual scholarship award of a sum of N25,000 till the end of her secondary school education.
