Nations Cup: DR Congo Compounds Nigeria’s Woes
« on: January 20, 2018, 06:50:28 AM »
It was another bad day for the Nigeria Men Handball Team as it lost to DR Congo 28-21 today at the year’s Africa Nations Cup taking place at Le Palais des Sports de Libreville, Libreville, Gabon.

The defeat is the third for the Nigerian team, who will play their last group game against Morocco on Monday. The Moroccans, on the other hand, lost their second game against Angola 30-19 and will play DR Congo in their third group game tomorrow before taking on Nigeria.

In today’s game, the Congolese won the first and second half 13-11 and 15-10 for a cumulative score of 28-21 to boost their chance of sneaking into the quarter final, while Nigeria will hope that Congo beats Morocco.

This will give Nigeria the chance of battling for the final quarter final place in the group with Morocco. However, a win for Morocco over Gabon would compound Nigeria’s woe at the championship.

In the last game of the day, Algeria defeated Congo 33-31 to record their third win in four games and book their place in the quarter final.
