Some tribes are of the opinion that.....
after the christening on the eight day.

After three months they'll still throw another.....
kinda celebration on the said child

We have baby dedications or baby blessings here are Child Christenings the same thing?

I think Baby dedications comes after the christening here.
Child Christening is when the child is named

Oh now I see.  Here in the US babies now must be named and have social security number applied for before they leave the hospital and they make women leave the hospital about  24 hours after they give birth.

That it has.  Now when we come back to the island from the mainland the police are at the ferry and have their dogs sniff our cars.

No, what I meant was the governments power and control forcing us to name and number our children before we leave the hospital.

well its the same in Germany you have to name and register your child with the government before leaving the hospital. here you have about 3 days before you leave the hospital. in the USA i also had only one day when my daughter Samantha was born.

Same in France, a local gov official passby every morning to register new births, the mothers must have there new born babies name prepared already.

And parents don't do any naming ceremonies like in Nigeria, because the child is already name before leaving the maternity ward.

Well, we don't have any law regulating the naming or time of naming a child...

When you have a baby for instance, if I were to have a baby in hospital, the baby would be called "baby olanajim" and that is the name that would be documented.

You can name your child according to your belief and tradition
