Ok.

Okra stew:

buy okro, cut it to pieces, boil water, put kaun, add okro to the boiling water, add fish, maggi and salt. Scoop a spoonful, if the stew is delicious, the food is ieadw!

I can cook American dishes but not Nigerian dishes.  When I husband gets in tomorrow, I will start learning how to cook them as well.
At this point, Olanajim can cook African dishes better than I can, but I will learn quickly.  Some of those ingredients I have not heard of before.  I have much to learn I see.

Tonib,
did you just hear somebody said I can cook? Food is food!

Maybe we should ask her to give us American recipe.

As for cutting okro to pieces. Well, I have no option. Some time you get so hungry that you just have to cut it anyhow.

Spaghetti and meatballs (my favorite Italian dish often eaten in America)

Ingredients:

Hamburger
Onions
Seasoning (add other seasonings in addition to salt and pepper / garlic salt is often used in this dish)
Bell Pepper (green in color)
Egg (goes in the hamburger to help keep meatballs together as they cook)
Mushrooms (if desired)
Spaghetti Noodles
Spagehtti Sauce (various brands available or homemade if preferred)

Directions:

(1)  Cut onion and bell pepper, saute' them in a deep pan, and add salt and pepper (drain afterwards if needed)
(2)  Add spaghetti sauce on top of onions and bell peppers and season to taste
(3)  Add egg and seasoning to the hamburger meat, season to taste, and roll hamburger meat in circles
(4)  As the sauce is boiling, drop the seasoned meatballs into the sauce, cover, and turn down to a slow simmer (the heat from the sauce will thoroughly cook the meat).  Some people add sliced cooked sausages and/or hot dogs to this as well.
(5)  As the sauce is simmering,  cook your spaghetti noodles.
(6)  Drain the water from  the noodles when finished, and serve the sauce over the noodles.  Many people add cheese sliced or granulated cheese (powdery  cheese) over their spaghetti.  Spaghetti is often served with garlic bread and a salad.

Does anyone like spaghetti?

A lot of women here in germany my age don't know how to do things like homemade nudels or some other things. I do! my mom showed me hoe to do a lot of things and my first mother in law showed me how to make the american dishes. now i hope my new mother in law will show me how to make nigerian food.

Pmdaboh,
we eat spagetti here too. But that your ingredients is too long.

@lady,
your mother in law won't teach you how to cook in Naija. Better start learning on this thread. Tonib and Anny can help. Even judy2.

Anybody can cook yam and fry egg. Tell us how you coo Gbegiri and Egusi. I love the two but the last time I cooked it myself, it was a waste! Nobody ate it with me!

@lady,
it is no more fashionable for mother in laws to teach their daughter in law how to cook. You may not even be allowed into the kitchen. And to add to it, you won't live with her perpetually.

@Ola
i never condemned your cooking, i only said that you need to improve at out of all the guys we have here you are the only one that has given us something that you can cook, the others only said they can cook, but i guess they are scared of giving us their recipe ;)

'@pmdaboh
am crazy about spaghetti i just love it but i can say it's my favorite cos as for me anything goes.

@Lady
Ola is right your mother-in-law in naija is not likely to teach you how to cook, you need to learn yourself cos you are expected to know how to do the cooking.but depending on the type of person she is, she may decide to take you up as a student.

@tukur
that's good but give us your recipe
just that you always like to cook the easiest one

@ Ola that is true

I do know how to cook just not nigerian food.
I know i wont live with her. My man will get us our own house.
I don't really know how she is. but she told my man she can't wait to see me. and that he should hurry to bring me there because the whole family wants to meet me. I talked to her on the phone several times before and she was very very nice.

@tonib,
U just made me remember when we travelled to an interior village in Abia State to write GCE exams,
At the take-off point, I started to check their baggage and interviewed some of them on feeding. The guys where not equipped at all, a good number of them planned to patronize restaurants, fast-food joints and mamaputs, while some made provision for light foods like  noodle, eggs, beverages, etc and eat. I asked them, “What will u guys eat there”? They said anyhow when we get there, things to eat must come out. I was laughing in my mind; they were all reluctant to have a look at the contents of my luggage.

When we got there, everybody was like whaoo this is a typical village, no restaurants to eat out, that evening we just took beverages and slept.

The next morning, as we sat together deliberating on the type of place we are and other gist, i just dragged my bag, zzzzzzzzzzzhhhh, opened it before then behold, garri, rice, yam, bean, soup and stew ingredients, they were amazed, they started flattering me, they were so eager to know how i would contract a babe who will do the cooking. After taking breakfast that morning, i entered the kitchen, my first course was ogbono soup, stock fish with eba, u need to see how these guys surrounded me like trainee nurses while doing the preparation/cooking, they wasn’t still convinced until when they started perceiving the aroma of typical ogbono soup.

Before the soup was ready to be served, i got more than 8 applications stand-by, that day, guys hailed me like a king, and since that day they started giving me a kind of respect because i was their saviour in the strange land. Even when my stuff got finished, i didn’t spent a dime in buying foodstuff, we all go to town and get food-stuff. Whenever evening tide start drawing close, they will approach me and say "o boy, what are u having for dinner", i will always chase them away and say "am not your mother or girlfriend they are probably somewhere in the town”.

hmm bravo, that's a nice one, i hope they did nt turn you to their cook?
this one that you had 8 applicants on the first day, i can just imagine.
i had a similar experience, when i was serving in kano state. i was actually posted to kano town but during the last census they employed corp members to be part of the exercise so i was now posted to a remote villa for the census. Out of the 15 corp members that was posted to that place twas only 3 females and 12 males but the other two female decided not show face so i was the only female there so anytime they bring the food all the boys will hang around me and i will ask them to line up so that i can share the food, all of them will hold their plates and the started calling me mummy. ;D everyone wanted to be my friend cos of the food they will collect. :D that was how it was till we finished the exercise and everyone went back to base.
