Ecobank Nigeria Gets Deputy Managing Director

The Ecobank Group has appointed Anthony Okpanachi as deputy managing director for its Nigeria affiliate, Ecobank Nigeria Limited. Prior to this appointment Okpanachi  was the Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank Kenya and Regional Head for East Africa, comprising Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

Announcing the appointment, Thierry Tanoh, Group Chief Executive Officer, Ecobank stated that the role of the Deputy Managing Director for Ecobank Nigeria is a “critical one for the organization, and will help support the acceleration of the transformation of the affiliate as we work towards a leadership position in the market”.

He reiterated that Ecobank is committed to enhanced efficiency that will bring about customer satisfaction as well as creating improved shareholder value across all its markets in Africa.

Also speaking Jibril Aku, Managing Director, Ecobank Nigeria Who congratulated Anthony Okpanachi on the appointment, said the decision to appoint a Deputy Managing Director for Ecobank Nigeria is part of the bank’s strategy to compete favorably and position as one of top three banks in Nigeria.

Anthony Okpanachi’s banking career spans over 23 years, with 16 of those in senior management levels.  He is a professional banker and strategists with experiences in treasury operations, Retail Business development and Relationship Management amongst others.
