Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has restated the desire of his administration to use reputable construction firms to solve the problem of roads and erosion in Benin metropolis.

Receiving members of Unuedo, a social cultural organization, who paid him a courtesy visit in government House on Wednesday, Governor Oshiomhole, however, appealed to the people of the state to be patient with his government.

The governor, who identified poor design and non use of competent contractors as the reason for the flood and erosion problem in the city, said his administration is taking a holistic approach to road construction in the state.

?My mandate as governor of Edo State is four years and cannot on the basis of allowing people see tractors on site to rush into embarking on any road project that will not stand the test of time.
There will definitely be something on ground to show to the people what we have done,? he said.
Comrade Governor Oshiomhole, while promising to give a thought to the proposal made to him by the group, observed that the vision and ideas of the group was in line with his administration?s agenda.

Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Chief Lawson Omokhodion, had told the governor that they were in his office to congratulate and salute his doggedness, not only at the various electoral contests, but also in his titanic conquest as a true labour leader and defender of the poor over the years.

He used the visit to intimate the governor of the Edo professionals? willingness to partner with the governor even as the body presented its proposed five point agenda to the governor to study and use as working document for the development of the State.

The group enjoined the governor to take a look at the increasing rate of insecurity of lives and property in the State, even as the organization makes case for an assistant to the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force to enable it combat crime effectively in the State.
