Much About Indecent Dressing
« on: February 09, 2008, 02:23:37 PM »
The subject of indecent dressing has once again been smuggled into public discourse by Nigeria's morality police, those self-appointed guardians of public health who simply won't give up complaining about what they perceive to be the decadence in the sartorial comportment of contemporary Nigerians. Yes, we live in a season of moral turpitude.
Yes, Nigeria needs moral renewal. But I think it is presumptuous to judge a person's moral standing by his or her dressing. In Oyo state, senior civil servants have now been directed by the state government, through the Head of Service, to wear suits on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
"They could appear in native dresses on Wednesdays and Fridays.. .Junior officers who are exempted from this rule should not be found going about in loose shirts."

Soon, indecent dressing would be outlaw in the whole federation should the bill before the Senate scales through. The bill classified Indecent dressing as a form of sexual harrasement. An offence which would carry stiff penality. Already majority of the senators are in support of the Bill which was sponsored by Senator Iyabo Obasanjo and 15 other senators that cut across the six geopolitical entity of the country.

I am sure that should the Bill scale through, a dressing code would be enforced. An idea that is already spreading even before the Bill come alive. Lagos, Abia and almost all Northern state had tested public perception of such step.

Apart from that, ....... is likely to be outlaw in public place just as prostitution would become an endangered vocation.

I am looking foward to that day where people like Cozy would go out of business altogether. We need a new orientation for our youths.

Gov should create jobs for people and stop diverting the problems as if it's dress code that will feed people.

Thank you jare. I wonder when joblessness had become a licence for madness and barbarism.

Last week, I was at a Amore street, Ikeja, to behold animals in human skins. The ladies are just super harlots. Shameless as they were, they roam the street at the slightest opportunity to showcase their HIV infested yansh to the public through the skimpy. You know "guys go follow chop". Many just entered the building to see more.

I am just happy to hear that the place was shut on Tuesday by police. Damn the human rights. Such act shouldn't be allowed. I support any attempt at ridding them off the street.

Democracy means doing what peopld want for the people!

If europeans love walking the streets naked, Africans recent it. They call Africans and Barbarian living in jungle, yet, they try to force indecency on us in the name of Democrazy. I think europe has alot to learn from Africa when it come to decency. They imported gay and lesbianisn into our land and still portrait us as barbarians!

Africans say NO TO WALKING NAKED ON THE STREETS! Join the chorus bobo. Would you?

FYI Nigerian constitution allows for Sharia anywhere the people agree with it. Go and check it out.

Secondly, Islam, Christainity and traditional religions greatly recent indecent dressings. Indecency is a byproduct of colomentalism brought to Africa by Europeans. So it is our will not the will of the anybody. If the europeans can F*uk their dogs, they mustn't force Africans to tow the same path.

Let be honest, if every man have a decent job and a good pay he will be able to find a girl friend easily, seeing other girls half naked will mean nothing to him.

So Prince are u saying perverted men are the ones without a decent job and a good pay?

Im sure you will find that even the highly paid ones can be perverted.  I personally do not take direct offence to wot other women wear but i believe there is a place for everything.  You cant be going to the office and be dressed up like someone going to a club.

In our culture we are still much reserved, u cant take home a half dressed lady to your parents as ur intended!  Neither can a lady take home a young man whose trousers is hanging  below the bottom as their intendend !

There is a way u can flaunt 'wot ur mama gave u' without actually sticking it in peoples faces! I just think our young ones need to shapen up and get their priorities sorted !

As the saying goes "a hungry mind is an evil mind" crime is been commited by people of all category, but the numbers of crimes commited by poor people is very high to compare to other category, go to prison to verify for yourself.

Prince, hunger is not the number one problem in Nigeria. Believe this. At any rate, how many times have you read that hunger kills someone in Nigeria?

Second, poor people dress decently. It is only those with full stomach that go half naked, in most cases. Go to Ikoyi, VIctoria Island, and areas populated by rich people and see how indecency are glorified. People in the villages that bare have anything to eat don't go naked to their markets even when hungary.

Parents are not trying. They are the cause of the trouble. When the law is enforced, I want to see a saner society.

what happened to 'Charity begins at home'.  I also agree that Parents do have more than a huge part to play in their children's life, I wont say they are not trying, but society seems to have taken over the upbringing of children off today.  Its all about 'beyonce' 'P-diddy' etc.  There are no more good role models for children of today.
