1.            POSITION:        TECHNICAL MANAGER (REF: ITEM)

THIS HIGH LEVEL POSITION INCLUDES THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PRODUCTS DEVELOPMENT, PRICING AND PRODUCT IMPLEMENTATION FUNCTIONS WITHIN THE COMPANY. IT SUPPORTS THE ENTIRE BUSINESS INCLUDING TRADITIONAL DISTRIBUTION (AGENTS AND BROKERS), TELE-SALES PRODUCTS, GROUP PRODUCTS AND SPECIAL DEALS.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A DYNAMIC LIFE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER, ACTUARY OR SOMEONE EQUIVALENTLY SKILLED AND EXPERIENCED IN THE TECHNICAL RATING OF INSURANCE RISKS TO FORM OUR INSURANCE MANAGEMENT TEAM. THE PERSON WILL BE REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND WILL TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE ENTIRE PRODUCT RANGE AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FUNCTIONS WITHIN THE COMPANY.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLAN, DIRECT AND CONTROL THE CURRENT TO LONG-TERM DEVELOPMENT OF THE TECHNICAL GROUP IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CORPORATE OBJECTIVES.
SET AND DIRECT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGIES FOR CLUSTERED OUTLETS/UNIT WITHIN THE GROUP.
PRICE AND ADMINISTER LIFE AND OTHER CREDIT PRODUCTS THAT THE ORGANIZATION WILL INITIALLY TAKE TO THE MARKET.
CREATE, IMPLEMENT AND MANAGE NEW PRODUCTS WITHIN THE PRODUCT RANGE.
ASSIST IN THE ACTUARIAL VALUATION OF THE BUSINESS AND PROVIDE KEY INPUTS TO THE FINANCIAL AND CAPITAL MANAGEMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION.
ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS.
PROVIDE ADVISORY SERVICES TO CLIENTS/BROKERS ON VARIOUS ISSUES.

 OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST:
HAVE A GOOD FIRST DEGREE/HND IN INSURANCE, ACTUARIAL SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS OR ANY BUSINESS RELATED DISCIPLINE.
POSSESSION OF A RECOGNIZED PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN INSURANCE/ACTUARIAL SCIENCE I.E. ACII, AIIN, AIA ETC, AN MBA OR OTHER HIGHER DEGREE WILL BE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE.
HAVE AT LEAST 8 YEARS RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WITH AT LEAST 5 YEARS IN A MANAGERIAL POSITION IN INSURANCE OR A RELATED JOB FUNCTION
HAVE A SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF INSURANCE INDUSTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO A CANDIDATE WHO HAS GOOD QUANTITATIVE AND NUMERIC SKILLS. HE/SHE WILL MANAGE THE DIVISION RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PUBLICS WITH MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTS AND RENDER PERIODICAL AND AD-HOC RETURNS TO VARIOUS REGULATORY AUTHORITIES.

•         ADOPTING ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION MEASURES IN SETTLING CONFLICTS INVOLVING THE COMPANY. THIS PRIMARILY ENSURES THAT MOST CONFLICTS ARE RESOLVED WITHOUT LITIGATION. 

•         LIAISING WITH THE COMPANY’S EXTERNAL SOLICITORS AND COLLABORATING WITH THEM IN HANDLING LITIGIOUS MATTERS.

•         ENSURING THAT STATUTORY RETURNS ARE FILED WITH THE CBN, CORPORATE AFFAIRS COMMISSION AND NATIONAL INSURANCE COMMISSION.

•         CARRYING OUT COMPANY SECRETARIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL LEVELS OF MEETINGS WITHIN THE COMPANY. THIS INVOLVES COLLABORATING WITH THE CHAIRMAN OF EACH MEETING TO ENSURE THAT PROCEDURES FOR THESE MEETINGS ARE FOLLOWED; THE KEEPING OF MINUTE BOOKS; ARTICULATION OF POLICIES ARISING FROM THESE MEETINGS AND ENSURING THAT POLICY IMPLEMENTERS ARE REMINDED OF THEIR DUTIES.

•         HANDLING OF DIRECTORS’ AFFAIRS. THIS INVOLVES SECRETARIAL FUNCTIONS FOR BOARD AND BOARD COMMITTEE MEETINGS, COORDINATING PAYMENT OF DIRECTORS’ EMOLUMENTS AND HANDLING OF DIRECTORS’ PROTOCOL AFFAIRS.

•         HANDLING THE PURCHASE OF COMPANY PROPERTIES INCLUDING THE CONDUCT OF SEARCHES, LEGAL DOCUMENTATION AND PERFECTION OF TITLE.
