23 firms present scorecards to Exchange

ABOUT 23 quoted firms last week presented their scorecards to the council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and their shareholders.

Specifically, Platinum Bank Plc's audited result for the year ended June 30,2008 showed gross earnings of N87.23 billion as against N36.2 billion recorded in 2007, while its profit after tax stood at N19.6 billion compared with the N7.75 billion it made in 2007.

The company's directors are, however recommending a dividend of N0.45 per share. The date of closure of register for members is stated for November 19, 2008, while payment is due for November 26, 2008.

For Arbico Nigeria Plcs its audited result for the year ended December 31, 2006 showed a turnover of N1.45 billion, as against N1.34 billion recorded in 2005. The company recorded a loss after tax of N19.5 million, compared with profit after tax of N12.1 million in 2005.

The date of closure of register for members is stated as November 26, 2008.

Audited result of West African Glass Industry Plc for the year ended December 31, 2007 showed a turnover of n1.42 billion, up from N1.41 billion recorded in the comparable period in 2006. The company, however, witnessed a loss after tax of n360.14 million, compared with N152.7 million in 2006, while the date of closure of register for members is stated as November 17, 2008.

Incar Niger Plc's audited result for the year ended December 31, 2007 showed a turnover of N127.6 million, as against N109.02 million in 2006. It's loss after tax stood at N2.01 million, compared with profit after tax of N1.01 million recorded in 2006.

Unaudited result of First Bank of Nigeria Plc for the half year ended September 30, 2008 showed gross earning of N97 billion, higher than N66.51 billion in the comparable period of 2007. The company's profit after tax stood at N23.8 billion, compared with N15.3 billion in 2007.

Similarly, unaudited result of Diamond Bank Plc for the half year ended October 31, 2008 showed gross earning of N46 billion, as against N25.32 billion in the comparable period of 2007. The company's profit after tax also rose to N9.84 billion, from N5.8, billion in 2007.

Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc's audited result for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed gross earning of N63.9 billion, as against N21.51 billion in the comparable period of 2007.

Its profit after tax stood at N10.6 billion, compared with N5.8 billion in 2007.

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc unaudited result for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed a turnover of N64.4 billion, up from N62.05 billion recorded in the comparable period of 2007, while profit after tax stood at N18.55 billion, compared with N17.85 billion in 2007.

For Oando Nigeria Plc, it's unaudited result for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed a turnover of N198.64 billion, as against N174.3 billion in the comparable period of 2007. The company's profit after tax stood at N5.56 billion, compared with N3.56 billion in 2007.

Unaudited result of Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed a turnover of N49.6 billion, as against N40.05 billion in the comparable period of 2007. It's profit after tax stood at N2.14 billion, compared with N1.3 billion in 2007.

AG Levntis Nigeria Plc's unaudited result for third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed a turnover of n8.2 billion, as against N5.1 billion recorded in the comparable period of 2007, while it's profit after tax stood at N807.4 million, compared with N411.9 million in 2007.

Unadited result of RT Briscoe Nigeria Plc for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 showed a turnover of N14.7 billion, as against N12 billion in the comparable period of 2007. The company's profit after tax stood at N571.3 million, compared with N476.61 million in 2007.
