Corruption Cripples Judicial Process in Lagos
« on: March 23, 2008, 07:43:08 AM »
A recent survey conducted by a non-governmental organisation, Access to Justice, has uncovered alleged large scale corruption among bailiffs and other non-judicial personnel in the Federal High Court, Lagos.

The report entitled, ?Balance of Justice: A follow-up performance report on judges and administration of the Federal High Court, Lagos,? claimed that the phenomenon was crippling service delivery in the court.

According to a copy of the report made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, inducement is the unspoken norm in the court, while court users? ability to obtain a service without offering bribes is ?largely empty rhetoric.?

To ascertain the degree of the vices, the group reportedly filed applications for Certified True Copies of record of proceedings in four separate cases.
