?Restore power supply to Lawal Street?
« on: February 07, 2008, 11:29:18 PM »
Residents of Alhaji Lawal Street, off Ring Road, in Ibadan, Oyo State, have cried against what they described as injustice and oppression by the officials of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Lister Building distribution unit on Ring Road, Ibadan.

They reported that the PHCN has thrown their community into darkness via the so-called load-shedding method.

They said the claims of the PHCN that their community suffers the way it does because of load shedding has been faulted, as other streets within the community enjoy regular electricity supply.

Indeed, they said, a street right at the back of Alhaji Lawal, they said, has not been affected by the load shedding.

?When the PHCN could not stand our complaints, it informed us that our problem was due to the influx of ice block merchants into our community,? residents said.

According to the respondents, ?PHCN claimed that the merchants have no meter, but are connected to the power supply anyway.?

They claimed that the community suspects that if the alleged merchants do not offer bribes to PHCN officials, how come they have refused to disconnect their lines and serve them warning letters.

They appealed to the authorities of the PHCN Molete District Capital Building, Ring Road, to wade into the situation.

Injustice, thats nothing new, for like a week that i've been at home, the power company can hardly give electricity for two hours in a day and i would be staring at electricity some houses away. Now the habit they've formed is bringing electricity for 10seconds in a day. And i just paid the bill some days ago, talk about injustice. I can't even blame them even at their office they were also on generator. They are so shameless
