Title: VISION 2020 WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY?
Post by: olanajim on February 07, 2008, 11:30:25 PM
It is no more news that Nigerian Govt had formulated a policy strategy aiming at making Nigeria one of 20 world most developed Nation by the year 2020.

The govt had taken some proactive steps like Banking Reforms, Insurance reform etc.

But something is lacking: The Technology Revolution.

Can we truly become great without Technology? How do we go about this?

there should be an emergency summit
of engineers and technologists and technocrat

it's not going to be tea-talks and banter-exchange;
it shouldn't dwell on bogus blue-print...
it should be realistic, futuristic and specific...

i'll suggest not including same old faces in the
summit but fresh faces and fresh blood...

I had that in mind. But who would implement their resolution? Last year COREN and NSE organised two of such but the report is in a library that no one care to visit.

don't ask what shall
my nation do for you...

ask: what shall i do for my
nation!

they should act on their own
and just get the nod-on from
the authorities...

do we wait for government to
build our personal homes?
who waits for government to
buy him or her nice dress?

they should take the destiny
in their hands...huh?

They are doing something. But it is slow.

Beside, we have anti-development laws here and people that patent a product or service are never protected.

Hmmmm!

It is not easy my friend. A nation that cannot protect her technologists, engineers, scientists would remain a slave to other nations. That is the fact.

Check them out. USA, UK, Japan, China, Iran, Indian, etc got there after protecting their intellectuals.

Lol

they are busy paying billions of Dollar to Pentascope Sagem, and Siemens to partner them in building the economy from oversea while our professionals emigrate to SA and other countries.

Look at Iran. Had it not been in posession of technology, US would have reduced it to rubble. Same goes to N. Korea. What is wrong with Nigeria?
