Hello House Members, today we shall look at calculation in production.  Carefully read the information below. 
CALCULATION OF WEIGHT PERCENT (W %) IN PRODUCTION.
Whatever percentage (%) formulation you are using, your formulation ingredients must sum up to 100%. And your formulation must first be in weight % before you then convert to actual measurement. 
NOTE:  FOR LIQUID (VOLUME) SUBTANCE YOU MEASURE IN millitre (ml) or Litre (L).
                 FOR SOLID (MASS) SUBTANCE YOU MEASURE IN Gram (g) or Kilogram (kg). 
I hope you know how to convert from ml to L and from g to Kg.
WEIGHT % EXPLAINED.
There are 3 types of formula for weight or volume % solution.
1.  We have weight-in-weight (use w/w) solution.
2.  We have weight-in-volume (use w/v) solution
3.  We have volume-in-volume (use v/v) solution
Let us begin
1 Converting from wt % to actual measurement ( in mass or volume)

NOTE: The values in these examples are GIVEN for the purpose of understanding calculation in production.

(a) Let?s say ? To produce 100ml orange milk drink.
Ingredients                                                    % by weight.
                     (1) Milk (liquid) ?               60% (V/V)
            (2) Orange Juice ?       20% (V/V)
            (3) Sugar ?          4. 8% (W/V)
            (4) Water ?          15% (V/V) or (W/V) because water can also be measure in weight (mass) . 100ml water is also 100g water and 100L water is also 100kg water ( the equivalent in mass). 
          
                       (5) Stabilizer (CMC) ?     0. 2% (W/V)          
Total sum in wt% is                                          100%

  NOTE:  Make sure your sum in weight % of all the ingredients is 100% before converting to actual measurement( in grams or ml).  THIS IS THE SECRET IN PRODUCTION AND MANUFACTURING.
Now the conversion TO ACTUAL MEASUREMENT (to produce 100ml of orange milk drink)
(a) 1.  Milk= 60    x 100ml = 60ml of milk is to be add into the mixture
                         100
2.  Orange Juice = 20    x 100ml = 20ml of orange juice is to be added into
                           100            the mixture
3.  Sugar  4. 8   x 100ml = 4. 8g of sugar is to be added
                 100
4.  Water = 15   x  100ml = 15g or 15ml (they measure the same) of water is to be added
                100                     into the mixture.
5.  Stabilizer (e. g.  CMC) = 0. 2    x 100ml = 0. 2g of stabilizer (use CMC) is to be added
                                          100
Total sum in actual measurement = 60ml + 20ml + 4. 8 + 15 + 0. 2 = 100ml 0f the orange milk drink you want to produce.

AFTER THESE YOU CAN NOW FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THE PRODUCT YOU WANT TO PRODUCE, BE IT FOOD OR CHEMICAL PRODUCTS.
Note: -we multiply by 100ml because we want to produce 100ml of orange milk drink.
 If you want to produce 1000ml of orange milk drink you have to multiple by 1000ml.
Note: Your measurement must be in ml and g or in Litre and kg because that is the correct units.

HOME WORK
(b) Let?s say ? To produce a 1000ml (IL) of orange milk drink.
Ingredients                         weight %
                     (1) Milk    ?           60%
           (2) Orange juice    ? 20%
          (3) Sugar       ? 4. 8%
          (4) Water      ? 15%
          (5) Stabilizer (CMC) ? 0. 2%
      Total sum in wt%       100%

Now the conversion.   Solve it yourself following the example above. 
NOTE:I hope you have known the conversion secrets as above.  So, just get the weight% of your ingredients (from your formulation) and   convert to actual measurement, then follow the necessary procedure for your production.  That is it.  Package your product and it is ready to be marketed.  Remember also that you have to carry out quality control for your product in order to meet regulatory standard.
