Gombe Donates Four Dialysis Machines To Hospital
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:56:12 AM »
Four dialysis machines and their accessories worth N120 million have been donated to the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe by the Gombe State government.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kennedy Ishaya who made the presentation on behalf of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo said the donation was meant to alleviate the plight of patients suffering from kidney disease.

Ishaya, who promised the state government’s continued support to federal institutions in the state within its limited resources said, “The total package includes four dialysis machines, two dialysis chairs, training of personnel to handle the equipment and cost of maintenance for one year.”

The commissioner revealed that the governor decided to donate the dialysis machines in his effort to directly touch the lives of citizens of the state, particularly in the health sector stressing that “the donations shows the good gesture of Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo as this will directly touch the lives of the people of Gombe State. People suffering from renal failure who ordinarily cannot access such services would have died without medication. But this affords them a good opportunity for treatment.”

The commissioner thanked the management and staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for working so hard in the area of providing medic-care to the people of Gombe State and its environs.

Receiving the equipment, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Saidu Abubakar thanked the state government for the donation, which he said would be judiciously used.

According to him, “Health has been very close to the governor’s heart as we have seen in his activities in terms of the mother and child treatment project and now he has not forgotten us”.

He said the donation would “boost our capacity to help patients in severe need because acute renal failure is life threatening but is curable. We assure people that we will judiciously use the machines to the benefit of mankind in general.”
