Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCEF) was established to stop prostitution, cartel and slavery of the 20th Century, said its founder the wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Titi.

Speaking at a book launch titled “Prostitution, a threat to the Nation” which was dedicated to her by the author Abigail O Ekwudo, Titi said “when I travelled to Rome and saw many Nigeria ladies on the street prostituting I made up my mind to assist them when an opportunity comes”.

She said these ladies are made to take an oath not to ever reveal the names of those that took them for prostitution and will work for ten years giving them money before getting ‘independence’, and they are subjected to various types of punishments like beating, burning with iron when they fail to bring good returns.

She said about 6,000 Nigerians benefited from the National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) after repatriation, some went to school and are now graduates working in banks and big offices.
