Pretty in pleats

Wether they are knife or the sunray pleat, pleats are in vogue in the fashion scene.

In dresses, you find them in maxi to midi and knee-length dresses. Pleats also appear on shoes, bags, pants, trousers. Skirts. They are everywhere.
A huge trend this season, these slim folds have graduated from schoolgirl skirts to sophisticated staples.

This trend is ideal for integration into daily clothes or office, however, very ladylike and elegant for evenings too. The pleats fashion trend offers so many styles that it’s almost impossible not to find something on your taste.

How to wear it
•When worked in lightweight fabrics, pleats add volume without bulk, so figure issues are minimized. Since the focus is on movement (especially in skirts), pair with loose separates and keep hair easy. Strappy platforms give off a cool, less girlish vibe.

•Do not wear pleated pants or shorts. They make your hips look like balloons and your butt appear fluffy and saggy all at the same time.
•Do not let your dry cleaner steam out the crisp pleats. They will turn into an Elizabethan Ruff instead of the strict straight severe pleats you yearn for.

•Do not mix a bouffant top with pleated bottoms. Whether it be a skirt, short or a pant a puffy top mixed with a full bottom will give your figure this strangely unwanted Tim Burtonesque created silhouette that will leave people asking you, “Who are you supposed to be?” in the middle of April.

•Do wear a pleated dress that is made out of a light weight silk that flows as you walk. Any fabric that flows gracefully when wind is applied will also work well with this look.
