The Lagos State Government has said it is working hard to improve security in the state, adding that measures are being put in place to check the menace of kidnappers in the Epe area.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who spoke after a meeting of the State Executive Council, said the government would redouble efforts at ensuring adequate security of lives and property in every part of the state.

A statement on Tuesday said Owoseni noted that although it was impossible to completely eradicate crime, the state government was working round-the-clock to ensure the safety of farmers in Epe whose operation was threatened by security challenges.

He said, “The governor, about two weeks ago, led the security council members to Epe, where many commitments were made and some measures and strategies put in place to check this menace.

“I want to assure the people within that area that the commitment of the government to their security is unwavering and we can assure them that they will be able to do what they are doing to earn their livelihood without any fear of molestation or threat of attack.”

He said the government also reviewed the operation of okada riders in the state, adding that it was agreed that efforts be made towards enforcing the state traffic law with regard to the operation of commercial motorcycles and tricycles.
