A 22-year-old man, Sodiq Lawal, who allegedly broke into shops and stole a plasma TV and other items, has been remanded in prison on the order of an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State.

He is facing an eight-count charge on conspiracy, intent to commit felony, shop-breaking and stealing.

Lawal pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Dorcas Ajiboye, refused to grant the accused bail and asked his lawyer, Mr. Michael Okoh, to make a written application for the bail.

She remanded him in Ile-Ife Prison pending the consideration of bail, saying this will act as a deterrent to others.

The prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused, whose address was unknown, committed the offence on November 2 at Ajamopo Street, Ile-Ife.
