The National Vice Chairman, South-West of Action Congress, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, has urged the National Assembly to prioritise the review of the nation’s electoral laws.

He made this call as the lawmakers commenced the review of the 1999 Constitution.

Olusi, who spoke with our correspondent at Ota, Ogun State, on Friday, said he believed the constitution review should be centred on the development of a good electoral law.

To achieve this, he called for the implementation of the electoral reform.

Olusi said, “The focus should be the review of the nation‘s electoral laws, which should add some credibility to our electoral process. A person should be entitled to a vote and such vote should count. That is where we can be talking about a good electoral culture; where the votes of the people will count.

“They should ensure that a good electoral law is put in place ahead of the coming elections. This will guarantee that the choice of the people emerges.”

The AC chieftain had earlier submitted at a forum in Ota, that the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), and his Edo State counterpart, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, were role models in government.

He added that the AC governors had demonstrated good leadership.

Charging the electorate to endeavour to register during the forthcoming re-registration exercise he said, “It is also important that our aspirants learn the virtue of patience. All contenders cannot win at a time, that is why you do not leave a party simply because you have not won.”
