AC says it’s illegal

The Action Congress, has described the recent resolutions passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives as illegal. The party said in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, that “Section 145 of the Constitution is very clear on how a Vice President can act as President. The Senate cannot empower the VP to act as President by resolution. What has happened today has taken Nigeria closer to the abyss, instead of bringing it back from the brink. All hell has broken loose.”

While advising the Federal Executive Council to evoke section 144 of the constitution and “immediately declare the President incapacitated and inform the National Assembly to set up a medical panel pursuant to that declaration,” the party advised Mr. Jonathan saying “Vice President Jonathan should take wise counsel and keep to the law. He should see this Senate resolution as nothing but a Greek Gift designed to do him in.”
