The National Sports Commission has fully taken care of the therapy bills of Nigeria basketball star, Tony Skinn who got injured while on national duty during the just concluded Olympic Games in London.

Skinn, one of Nigeria’s star men at the London Olympics got injured one of Nigeria’s games and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The minister of sports and Chairman National Sports Commission, Bolaji Abdallahi and his director general visited the player in the London hospital promising the point guard that the commission will take care of his bills.

In an exclusive interview with the president, Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Tijjani Umar, he said the commission has fully taken charge of the player’s bills and the amount involved has been cleared upfront. “I want to commend the minister Bolaji Abdullahi and director general NSC for moving swiftly. The NSC has fully paid for Tony Skinn’s recovery and medical bills. What happened was that once his doctor examined him and gave out the amount that would cover for his treatment and therapy until recovery the NSC took care of that. That in itself is good encouragement and motivation.”

He said the official recovery date given by the therapist was 10 weeks from time of injury even though earlier report quoted was that the player would not fully recover until April next year. “Officially his doctor and therapist said medically it will take him 10 weeks to recover. April 2013 may be active court play.”
