LAIF Awards: Creativity, bedrock of marketing communications -Etisalat Commercial Chief
•Insight, DDB, Lowe Lintas, come tops

Insight Communications, DDB Lagos and Lowe Lintas have emerged the top three winners at the 2010 LAIF Creative Awards held recently by the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) at the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

It was an avalanche of award for Insight Communications who clinched the first position with 22 awards on the whole in the consecutive order of two Grand pix, six gold, five silver and nine bronze. The second and third positions went to DDB Lagos and Lowe Lintas as they won twelve and five awards respectively.
The 5th edition of the LAIF Creative Awards was chaired by the Chief Commercial Officer of Etisalat, Mr. Wael Ammar.  The Chairman of APCON, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi presented the goodwill message.

Other dignitaries present at the event were Dr. May Nzeribe, (former APCON Chairman), Mr. Chris Doghudje (former APCON Chairman), Sir Steve Omojafor (AAAN Trustee), Mrs. Bola Thomas (Past President of AAAN), Alhaji Garba Kakanrufi (APCON Registrar), Mr. Id Enang, (ADVAN President), Mr. Kole Ademulegun (OAAN President) among other dignitaries.

The President of the Association, Mr. Funmi Onabolu in his welcome address stated that the Association will continue to encourage practitioners to greater heights in the development of strong and original ideas and the execution of such ideas.

Mr. Wael Ammar, the Chairman of the Awards Dinner noted that creativity is the bedrock of the marketing communications business.  He thereafter pledged that Etisalat Nigeria will continue to support business initiatives aimed at improving creativity in particular and marketing communications in general.
The Chairman of the LAIF Management Board, Mrs. Bunmi Oke further stated that the Association initiated the creative awards in 2006 to fill the critical gap in the dearth of creative ratings and reward excellence in the advertising profession.

It is believed that the creative awards will launch Nigeria’s creative potentials in international circles as well as provide an avenue for celebration of great ideas. The 2010 The 2010 edition of the LAIF awards was celebrated with the glamour and pageantry.
Twenty (20) agencies participated in the 2010 edition as against 14 that participated in 2009 edition.
