Trailing behind Ngige was Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 59,355 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Dr. Andy Uba got 26,106 votes come fourth.

Also, the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu polled a total of 20, 777 votes to earn the fifth position while Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA) candidate, Hon (Mrs) Uche Ekwunife trailed behind Ukachukwu with 9, 595 votes to take the sixth position.

A breakdown of the individual strength of the candidates showed that Governor Obi scored 14,693 votes in his Aguata Local Government Area to beat Prof. Soludo who polled 5,269 in the council, while Dr. Uba who is also from the area scored 3,395 votes there.
In Governor Obi’s Anaocha Local Government, he took the lead by scoring 14,693 votes while Dr. Ngige followed him with 1, 646 votes as against Hon Ekwunife’s, who also comes from Anaocha, 561 votes in the council.
Dr. Ngige also dominated the poll in his council as he garnered 9,043 votes to beat Soludo who scored 2,520 votes, while Obi came third in the council with 2,049 votes.

Also, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu showed his strength in his Nnewi South council area where he scored 5,577 votes to Ngige’s 2,469 while Obi followed with 2,061 votes.
The INEC result also showed that out of the 21 local government areas, APGA won in Onitsha South; Awka South; Ekwusigo; Ogbaru; Aguata; Onitsha North; Anambra West; Orumba South; Njikoka; Awka North; Anaocha; Ihiala; and Orumba North.
